I admit it

Ok, so I am a huge Desperate Housewives fan. I know many of my readers think it’s a slutty awful show that only tramps would watch, and I’ll let you think what you may about me, but I have something to say.
Last night Gabrielle’s baby was taken away from her (they adopted a baby a few epidsodes ago). The birth mother decided she wanted to try the “parent thing” for a while.
I am grateful that such a popular show brought something really important to life. When moms give-up their babies it needs to be permenant. That baby needs to stay with its “mother” (in this case Gabrielle) for the rest of its life, and the adoptive parents should have NO worries that their baby might not stay their baby.
I just think that adoption is scary enough without having to worry if the sweet babe is going to stay yours or not. Anyway, I wish it would be something they would standardize nation-wide (because, from what I have heard, the waiting period for the adoption to close varies from state to state).
And that’s all I have to say about that.

Hilly, I’m appalled…Desperate Housewifes? Just kidding, I don’t think any less of you for anything!

As far as adoption goes, I totally agree! There is a family in our ward that is adopting a 3 year old. The birth mother is totally sure, the grandmother (who has been helping to take care) is pretty much sure, and someone said something about some cousins that don’t want the little girl to be adopted. COUSINS?!?!?! Are you kidding me?! I can’t believe that a cousin would have any legal backing to say anything about the situation! Hopefully nothing comes of it and she can stay here with this family that already loves her to death!

I’m glad that, as of right now, we don’t have to deal with that sort of stuff!

Ok I’ll be a sluty tramp with you because I LOVE DHW!! My justification is that I don’t watch it on Sunday… I Tivo it and watch it on Monday so that I’m not ruining the Sabbath with my sluty trampiness… works for me!

And yes I do agree with the adoption rules… that’s one of the main reasons we haven’t adopted… I know it’s the cowards way out but after all I’ve been through to have a child taken away would be the end of me.

We have some good friends that adopted twice and both times the baby was taken back by the high school moms. I can’t handle that. I think if you’re under 18 you shouldn’t get a say in the matter :)

Anywhooo… enough of my wisdom for the day! :)

Oh, I could go on about this one. Our friends just got their baby #2 after, literally, cutting the cord, witnessing the births, taking the babies from the hospital…. NINE TIMES!! NINE in between two completed adoptions because of the birth mothers, or more often than not, the birth grandparents changing their minds. Being that we are in the midst of trying to complete the adoption of our babes, this show literally ripped my heart out. *BTW, I’ll be a tramp with you because I’m a DH fan too!*

    You’re the best, Hilary!

Count me in on the tramp wagon…me and DH are both fans! That episode was gut wrenching and even though I don’t have family or friends adopting, I agree with your sentiments.
