Is everyone sitting down

Really, are you?
Because this is big news…
BIG
FREAKING
NEWS….
We are considering getting a car DVD player. Not an installed one, but just a portable one… we are considering taking a lengthy drive over Spring Break and this thought is just pecking its little way into my head.
SO, I know that SO many of you on here have been advocates of me GETTING a DVD player I want to know your specifics
Do you have one, if so — do you like it, and what brand is it?
Does size matter {eh-hem, screen size, that is}?
How much did you pay for it?
If you could decide all over again — would you do a dual screen player, or a single screen, and why?
100 words or less please. :)
GET OFF YOU FINGERS AND TYPE MY READERS….
This is big news (for those of you who perhaps haven’t read the blog over the years might not know that I am a DEVOUT follower of the fact that kids need to entertain THEMSELVES while they’re in the car, not some screen). And look at me, I’m getting weak.
YOU PEOPLE HAVE MADE ME WEAK.
SO TYPE.

Okay, even though we already had this conversation I will hopefully get the ball rolling so everyone else will type their opinions…

We have the Kawasaki PVS 1965 dual screen portable DVD player. We paid somewhere upwards of 200 for it.

It has worked great. It is 2 years old now and still works great. We sometimes for a treat plug it in the girls’ bedroom so they can watch a movie in there on a weekend. They think that is way cool. Otherwise, we don’t use it much except on really long trips.

I would go with the dual because with the seat rest thing it is hard to see if you aren’t directly behind.

My 100 words are up. :)

We used to have a portable one but I can’t remember the brand and all that cause it was ebayed last year when we bought the van we have now. We ebayed it because this one has a built in screen – I think it’s about 6 or 7 inches across. Sorry I can’t give you specifics on brand or all that, but I DO advocate getting one for any trip over 3 or 4 hours. The kids are so much happier. We are so much happier because there’s half as much complaining, crying, and gnashing of teeth.

We have a portable DVD which has a place for two headphones which is nice. That way you don’t have to listen to Caillou. :) You can get a pretty cheap DVD player at walmart.com. We bought one for Andrew’s sister for Christmas and it was around $80. (cute colors too). And at the cheaper price you can get two, if your kids don’t like to share or have different taste in movies (like mine). Just a thought…

I am shocked, completely. Just to let you know, ours only lasted maybe a year and a half, it is broken, the door to keep the movie in no longer closes, and we used it so much in the car that the adapter no longer will plug in and give a power source so it not only does not work it can charge the battery to work off that either, but I still think they are great for those long Utah drivs
