A Note on the poll

I don't think there's a "right" way. Every child is different.
I know that the church hopes that families will sit together unless a child is disturbing, and then then families deal with it the best way they can.
Again, that depends on the family and the way they've chosen to handle it.
I have a really hard time with our "mothers lounge" for the reason that families are to sit together. I know that the church take-out many of the cry rooms because they wanted children to learn to sit with their family. For us, letting our kids walk the halls just seemed to be a reward for being disturbing. That was our reasoning (and frankly, more mine then Drew's -- I knew if he left SS -- he'd go out in the halls and be gone most of the rest of the class).
Again, that's just me. :)
*It's my blog and I'll give my opinions if I want to...... :)*

  1. I'm with you on this one. I don't think there is a right way, per se.

But I do believe that allowing your children to walk the halls (at least during sacrament meeting), or WORSE, run up and down the halls laughing and screaming teaches them that the hallways is more fun than sacrament meeting. (Which, unfortunatly, sometimes it IS.)

Our mother's lounge is just for nursing mothers - no men allowed.

All this being said, we do what we have to do. And some kids are easier than others, and everyone gets it in their own time.

  2. Since I have in the past and still do go to church twice a month by myself with 5 kids, I have made certain allowances when it was just me. This year, as our church time has changed to 11 (great time when you're a single mom for a day) and I don't have any babies that aren't in nursery, I have a made a concentrated effort to business as usual meaning I follow the same rules as when Ed's with me. We sit in Sacrament together, we don't take out food or other activities until afte the Sacrament is passed, and you don't leave to get a drink or go to the bathroom unless it is an emergency. And even then, you are only allowed to leave once. So for me, it's a work in progress.... I'm still trying to figure it out.
