I took the kids with me to vote yesterday.  Mr Middle didn't want me to vote without him.  What a cutie.  My kids sure do get the voting process, I've hauled them all to vote with me since they were little -- just like what my mom did for me.

But as I handed in my ballot I got a little emotional.  Not only was I teaching my kids about the American Way, about how we get to CHOOSE our leaders.  But also how far Mormons have come.

It wasn't that long ago that it was completely legal to kill a Mormon in the state of Missouri.  And in the grand scheme of things it wasn't that long ago that they were driven from their homes, had their belongings set fire to and were often tortured.

And while I think it is still PC to make fun of a Mormon, I think people are more accepting of us now.  I think they get we're likely to be on the PTA (or run their stinkin' carnival), or be their child's soccer coach.  Often, when I tell people I am LDS they respond that I must make good casseroles because when their mom was sick once when they were a kid, their Mormon neighbor brought in food.

I do think that Mitt is a plastic Ken doll... but as I think of LDS people, we tend to be a little bit plastic.  We tend to just keep our heads down and work.  I see a lot of that in Mitt Romney.  Sure, the guy has a big mouth, big enough for his foot -- but the guy's rich.  Newflash, I want a successful person in office -- and so do you.  He is a REALLY hard worker.  That much is obvious.  We need a hard worker right now.

As for Mr Santorum, the fact that college graduates are snobs pretty well sealed your fate for me.  I think everyone should aspire to post-secondary education.  Period.  End of story.  It makes for better homes, better children, and a more secure future.  And if that makes me a snob, I'm good with that.

Anyway, go out there and do me proud Mitt.  Or, at least don't embarrass us. :)
