Picture it. Insecure 15 year old girl goes off to Band Leadership Training. I would be yelled at and do many pushups and would come out with life lessons that help me to this day.
Because LIFE is about being a leader. And while I don’t tell people to do flanks any more I do tell them to clean their room.
Things like, touching a person when you give a compliment, giving the compliment within 30 seconds of the action (or as soon as possible), trusting people and how trust breeds more trust, showing people how to do things.
All of these have served me well. I think I mostly learned that leadership (and hence, life) is about hard work. And if you’re not in it for the hard work you’re just not in it.
I’m just grateful I made the decision to go 15 years ago. Thanks Dr Tim for putting a program together that made a halfway decent mom and a fair to moderately great labor and delivery nurse, not to mention the other things I do in my life. It has surely made a difference.
