Haha -- well, a filing catastrophe comes pretty far down on the lists of catastrophes. :)

I think our entire filing cabinet is like drawer #3. It needs to be cleaned out and organized. Great recommendation to have a filing system!

I have a filing catastrophe, and am in the middle of trying to improve upon it, one more time. What to save, what to throw, you have answered some of my questions and given me a quick summary of the stuff I have read. Thanks so much, you will be hearing about my progress, hopefully not the lack thereof!

I must say the longer you're married, the easier it is to need a giant filing cabinet. :)

Brilliant to keep all of the manuals that belong to the "house" in one folder! When my parents moved into the first house they bought, I remember that we got a few booklets, but nothing veryhelpful. When things broke, we had to figure it out on our own. Having all of that ready for the new buyer would be an oddly happy thing for them!
Our filing system (if you can call it that) is similar, with each type of bill or paper separeted with its siblings, but it's sort of strewn about the house - our finances are not combined, and so my bills are mine, and his bills are his, mine are stored in one place, his in another.
I do need to find all of our important records and combine thouse, though, as they're rarely needed but do need a good place to be stored!
