I’m getting fat. And nothing is stopping it.
I gave up sweets, I counted points, I counted calories, I’m working out like a machine and frankly — hating ALL of it. I find none of it enjoyable.
Right now I’ve just been listening to my body, which is how I lost the weight before I got pregnant with P. The eating is good. I’m really deciding if I am, actually, hungry and then deciding what sounds good, and I eat it.
I’m just stuck.
Enter friend Margaret who looks SO Great. I ask her what she’s doing while we’re on a walk and she says she’s just running. I roll my internal eyes, as I hate running. I just don’t like my lungs burning up or the way my body feels after. I hate it. Headline reads: “Hilary hates running”.
But, as I think on the walk about how I was losing weight good when we were in the process of moving here, I was doing circuit training. I did it a few times a week and while I didn’t love it, I did lose weight, pretty darn well. I wasn’t counting calories or being insane. I was trying to limit carbs in the afternoon, ran and it just seemed to work.
And it clicked. You might not love it – -but you are HATING what you are doing now. I swear if the monotonous stepford wives Firm videos tell me one more time to feel the burn, my weight is going to go through their face on the TV screen.
Then, Margaret said I needed to go get new shoes. And I was still up for it. I was willing to spend the 100 bucks (or more) on shoes to try this out — so it must be good, right? Hilary isn’t big on spending money. 🙂
So, I went to the shoe store (the one close by — they were great). I swallowed my pride and ran on their treadmill so I could figure out what shoes would fit me best. I ended-up with these after trying about 6 pair on. I also got some fancy socks and away I went.
The next stop was Costco and I found some running pants and a cute shirt there. I found a sports bra, but my top part is so “small” I thinking I need something less supportive. If only they made a bra for my spare tire. 🙂
Last night I found the zombie run app on my phone and it sounded like fun. They even have a 5k app for beginners, which is what I am using.
Fast forward to this morning, I got up and got out there. I’ve been out walking lately, so it wasn’t too big of a change. I have been running on and off with the walks anyway…
