Well I'm a nanny for 3 adorable kids. I always said I'd never be the babysitter that lets the kids sit in front of the tv the whole time I'm there. Well fast forward about 12-13 years, and I'm no longer only with the kids for 2 hours at a time, and I'm dealing with a currently almost-8-year old, recently-turned-5-year old and 1 1/2-year old sometimes the baby is fussy and I totally let the two older ones watch tv while I calm the baby. (Now this isn't all the time, I certainly take the kids to the park or play board games, or make them do their chores.) I also said I would never hand a kid my smartphone to play games but sometimes the 8 year old is playing games on mom or dad's phone so I indulge the 5 year old. (She's a girly girl so the games she plays involve picking out an outfit or buying a clothing item for her character.) I always understood why mom was nervous the first couple times leaving the kids with me to an extent, but this past week she had to use someone new to babysit them so we could both attend a friend's bachelorette party. And after being with these kids for 5 years, let me just say I understand it in a whole new way!!!! Haha

My children are all grown now, and I often hear new mothers say, "Oh I would NEVER do that!" I just chuckle to myself thinking, yes, you would. That old adage is true, "After 3 kids you let them juggle knives." Okay, so I didn't really let them juggle knives, but I do recall a few evenings of letting them play kick the can, with the neighbor kids.......in the middle of the street, and one night of ice cream for dinner (my oldest girl still mentions that as her favorite night ever!).
