I have a quick agenda for each Primary Presidency meeting and I thought I’d share it and see if anyone has anything else that they review, or things that are useless.
1. Prayer (beacuse if it’s not on there, I may forget it)
2. Review of jobs
- President — Nursery, ward council, baptisms, budget, staffing, meetings
- 1st — Program, activity days, teachers, materials, faith in God
- 2nd — Scouts, closet
- 3rd — Subs (our third counselor is basically a rotating sub)
- Secretary — Stats, talks, birthdays, roll, spotlight, new members, inactive
- {we just review each person’s area and these are pretty lose “areas” as we are all pretty great to do whatever– but I do like each area fairly deliniated because it makes delegating easier, I would LOVE to know how other presidencies split the load!}
3. Stuff to fix {reverence is almost always top of this list, other things are scripture memorization, classroom visits, etc.}
4. Staffing issues {currently, not a problem but we almost always are checking out the meat market for new teachers, and making sure teachers continue to enjoy their calling}
5. Child issues {any families that need extra support, often gleaned from ward council}
6. Upcoming items {ward parties we’re in charge of, cub or activity days things we need to help with}
7. Birthday visits {we visit each child during their birthday month}
8. Newsletter items {we do an e-newsletter for parents with birthdays, the theme, talks, etc.}
9. Spotlight families {we’re doing family spotlights this year}
10. I also paste the month’s schedule from my excel document into the agenda so they’re reminded when they are doing sharing time, or conducting.
Anyway, I try to keep them to just an hour and we hold them monthly. We’re good to read emails and talk on Sundays, so I feel like this is adequate.
What does your presidency do differently? Inquiring minds….
thanks for sharing!
This is how we split our load:
• President — ward council, scouting, budget, staffing, meetings
• 1st — Program, baptisms, teacher gifts
• 2nd — activity days, nursery, reverent child
• Secretary — Stats, talks, birthdays, roll, spotlight, new members, inactive
Ooo, I like that split-up!
I personally believe that split up is horrible
Huh…. well, that’s clearly why you put as annonymous. And maybe you’re forgetting what it’s like to be a 11.5 year old in primary….
I was just put in with a new Presidency….I am going to share this with the President. We need to know our areas of focus. Thanks for a great agenda
Good luck! I hope it’s helpful!
Thank you for the agenda idea.
This is how we split in our Presidency:
President: Ward Council, Baptism, Turning 12, Activity Days, 11-year-old Scout
1st: Sr Primary, Cub Scout, Faith in God Program, any issues related to the Sr Primary (teachers, subs, etc).
2nd: Jr Primary, Nursery, Music, Program, any issues related to the Jr Primary and Nursery (teachers, subs, etc)
Secretary: All the paper work, birthday, assignments, agendas, etc.., (She’s amazing!)
We also take turns every week between Conducting, Sharing Time, and Hallway & prep Chairs before Primary (we monitor the hallway, helping teachers with kids that need to drink water, go potty, or any other issues).
I like that split! Very interesting!
How often do you meet as a presidency?
we just divided up duties. glad we weren’t reinventing the wheel. thanks for pointing more things otu to us! brilliant!
No reason to reinvent the wheel!
My mom just said that I should have been trained to divide and conquer. Thank you! I used your agenda too to help out mine. 🙂
Perfect! I hope it really helps!
