Haha, THAT brought you running here from Facebook, now didn’t it?
No, we’re not getting divorced. Actually, me and the mister are in a really great place right now, don’t you love that?
Me, and my wedding right. Not so much.
Not that I don’t love the ring. I ADORE my wedding ring. It means a lot to me, but the size…
Well, just 32 pounds later it’s driving me nutso. It falls off when P holds my hand, it’s literally hanging by a thread. So, today when my hands were freezing after drop-off I knew I was just being lazy with it, and I worried I actually would lose it.
So, here’s what I’m thinking about now:
1. Get it re-sized, obviously. BUT, I worry about a couple of things. First, I am hoping to lose another 30 (or more) this year, but I figure if I get it fairly tight now, then it won’t be an issue later on. However, I do fear I’ll gain it all back and then I’ll have to re-re-size… Frankly, my weight and finger size just isn’t stable right now. Not sure that re-sizing is my best option. I literally worry that (this would be the 3rd time I’ve had it re-sized) it will start to thin out on the bottom, so much so it will be an issue… is that possible?
the ring snuggie thing worked fine for me
Ya, I have the opposite problem with my ring. I haven’t worn it since Asher was born.
Mine falls off in the winter and I can barely get it off in the summer. I don’t think there is a good solution.
I vote cheapo at Kohls. But give yourself like 6 months or something and then reevaluate so you don’t just wear the cheapo for years and years . . .
I also vote for the cheapo. I have a cheapo too, for when I’m too fat to wear mine. Which is actually now, but my ring is still doing okay. I can even get it off. Maybe it was just during pregnancy that I had issues. Anyway, go with the cheapie.
And whatever, you’ll totally keep off the weight.
I vote for the cheapo. That’s what I did, which is good because as I lost weight I needed another cheapo since the first cheapo was not too big! I have lost 48 pounds and am now 12 pounds lighter then when we even got married! I feel like I am almost to the weight where my body feels happy and stable. When I reach that point and stay there for 6 months I will have my real wedding ring re-sized.
I do know that it can thin out the bottom of the ring to re-size it too much. My grandmother had hers resized three times. Many years after the last sizing, the ring wore so thin it is now open on the bottom. She still wears it, but has been told there’s no nice fix for that bottom part. I’d say get a nice looking cheap one until you are sure of the size you want.
And congrats on needing a new one!
Hillary, you’ve worked so hard to lose the weight, what a good problem to have.
When I had my oldest kid, I kept scratching her with the diamond on my ring, so I took it off- I figured I wouldn’t get any less clumsy. Then I gained weight and got pregnant again, and again and would wear a ring my husband got when he was inducted into an engineering society (it was a cheap stainless steel ring). Finally, I decided to just put it away and wait. I think by the time we have our 15th anniversary I’ll get it resized so it fits (that will be in 4 years). I love my husband and he loves me and neither one of us cares if we wear our wedding ring. Our wedding rings won’t change how we feel about each other or change our level of commitment to each other. For me, I’m ok with not wearing it, but I’m not sentimental about jewelry. I suppose if Bob or I were model gorgeous, we’d have a different take on this, but we aren’t, we’re just average normal people.

get a cheapo at Kohl’s… have fun with it! 🙂
This is a question I’ve been mulling around also, so I was interested to read through everyone’s responses. I also am going to wait until I really reach my goal, mine isn’t lose-able at this point, but I think 20# from now it will be. I’ve never had it re-sized, so I imagine that is what I’ll do. Congratulations on having this predicament! 🙂
My problems is quite the opposite. My ring was so tight, I couldn’t get it off for two years. It was cutting off circulation and one night this week, my finger was almost purple. So I got it cut off 🙁
