I Disagree

I’ve been reading a lot of the Ordain women stuff on the internet.  This is obviously something people are very passionate about.  It’s not something I struggle with, but I know what it feels like to be passionate about something other people think is crazy.  It’s certainly not a good feeling to be bashed on or made fun of. I am certain that neither of those things (bashing or mocking) is something Jesus would do.

So I will simply say I disgaree.

I am thoroughly thankful for the changes that have been made to have women pray in conference, and how it as been addressed by our general authorities.  I’ve certainly opened my mind to a lot of ways the church could change, if needed.  I do, strongly, believe that our church is full of individuals, it is serviced through individuals, and it can {mostly} cater to individuals.

I just disagree with them.  I don’t think women should have the priesthood.  I don’t think I need to say why.  I think we’ve all been down that road.

I will say that members of the LDS church tend to follow what the brethren have said.  In this instance I feel like Elder Oaks has very strongly said that we need to stop wanting the priesthood and do the best with the things we have.  They probably didn’t hear it that way.  And that’s fine.

I will say that during Prop 8 I had a really hard time with people who went strongly against the instruction (as I heard it).  That isn’t to say that I understood the reasons behind prop 8, but I knew that the prophet stood at a pulpit {via the internet} and asked Me — Hilary P. E. to do everything within my power to assist the cause, and so I did.  I still don’t understand it — and it may still be a tender part of my faith that is healing.  But, I did it.

We walk by faith, not by sight — check my sidebar.

But I also REALLY feel that we are here to have joy.  If you’re not feeling joy something is wrong.  Talk with your bishop, let it go for a bit and decide if you want to pick it back up.  Joy is everything to me, a lot of it stems from hope.

and, my personal favorite phrase:

Everything will be fine in the end.

If it’s not fine, it’s not the end.

So, let’s all get along.  I know we can do a lot of good together.
